General Information

FCM is a Maltese bank which obtained its licence in 2010 before launching in 2012.

The minimum deposit for an account is €2,000.

There is no limit to the amount that can be deposited.

FCM does not charge any fees to open an account. There may be fund-transfer charges from your originating bank. For further information about charges view the Guide to Fees and Charges.

Our opening hours for clients are from Monday to Friday, between 08:30 and 17:00, excluding bank holidays and public holidays. We are committed to serving you during these hours to assist with your banking needs and inquiries. The logo represents the historical towers (Torri), which are built around the coast of Malta. In the same way that these watch towers symbolise strength and security, FCM protects, safeguards and watches over your savings to help achieve your goals.

Kindly note that to proceed with opening a Term Deposit Account, it is necessary to first open a Savings Account. Our team is readily available to guide you through the process and answer any questions you may have.

Money can be deposited into your account at any time through two convenient methods: bank transfer or by cheque. Please note that the Bank does not accept cash deposits.

For bank transfers, you can initiate the transfer from your ‘linked bank account’ by providing the necessary details, such as the account number and bank information provided by FCM Bank. Alternatively, you can deposit money by cheque by mailing it to our designated address or visiting one of our branches.

When effecting a cheque deposit, the cheque is to be payable to either "FCM Bank Limited" or to the account holder.

It is important to note that only cheques coming from the ‘linked bank account’ are acceptable for deposit. If the cheque does not originate from the ‘linked bank account’, it will not be accepted for deposit.

No, you must first transfer your deposit to the Bonus Savings Account. Then we’ll open your fixed term deposit account.

Yes, you can make withdrawals from your Savings Account at any time, without incurring any fees. The funds will be transferred to your ‘linked bank account’.

This flexibility allows you to access your savings when needed without any hassle.

Yes, you can transfer funds to your personal or corporate Bonus Savings Account at any time.

Upon successful completion of our due diligence process, a set of Bank details will be provided for you to transfer the funds. Once the account has been opened you’ll be provided with your unique International Bank Account Number (IBAN) to which you can transfer the funds from your Linked Account.

Since the term deposit is for a fixed period there are no withdrawals until maturity.

Yes, you can make free withdrawals from a Bonus Savings Account and transfer to the linked account provided by the account holder. Withdrawal by retail account holders does not require any notice period.

When completing the application form for your account, it is essential to provide the details of your linked bank account. This ensures smooth and efficient processing of transactions, including deposits and withdrawals between your Savings Account and your external bank account.

The linked bank account provided must be in the name of the account holder. Evidence of the linked bank account is to be provided upon opening your Savings Account and may also be requested at any point during the business relationship.

Please ensure that the information provided for your linked bank account is accurate to avoid any delays or complications in processing transactions.

Upon opening your Term Deposit Account, you may choose for interest to be paid monthly, quarterly, half yearly or annually.

Interest can be paid in two ways:

  • Compounded to the same account
  • Transferred to the Savings Account

Your savings and deposits up to €100,000 at FCM Bank are protected by Malta’s Depositor Compensation Scheme (DCS). Any deposits above the €100,000 limit are not covered.

Yes, the Savings Account is a variable interest rate which is subject to change.

No, for fixed term deposits the interest rate is locked and fixed for the period you have chosen.

No, the fixed term deposit will not be automatically renewed, unless we have clear instructions to that effect from the account holder. Prior to account maturity date, you will be notified that your account will reach maturity soon.

Yes, joint accounts can be opened at FCM Bank, provided that all account holders are existing clients of the bank.

The Fixed Term Deposit Account will automatically close at maturity.

It is important to note that prior to closing all of your accounts with FCM Bank, we are required to ensure that all your information is valid and up-to-date. This may involve requesting documentation from you to verify your identity and other relevant details or documents as may be deemed necessary. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this matter.

Personal Information

You may notify us of a change in your details by calling one of our Customer Relationship Advisers on +356 2248 8000 or by secure message through the internet banking portal.

Yes, we would need to be informed of any updates in your general information and any supporting documentation (if applicable) would need to be supplied.

You may notify us of a change in address by calling us and sending us:

  • A original utility bill (which will be returned to you) which is not older than 6 months from the date of issue; or
  • A certified true copy of a recent utility bill/ bank statement; or
  • A certified true copy of an updated Identification document such as an ID card/Driving license

Alternatively, you may visit our branch with the original document and a certified true copy of the document will be taken by one of our employees.

Online Banking

A new enhanced Internet Banking service was introduced to make it easier to manage your accounts online with a simplified design.

Should you not receive your authentication code after two minutes, kindly contact us on +356 2248 8000.

If you enter the 6-digit code incorrectly, you will be informed of this error by an on screen message and you have another 2 attempts to input the code correctly. You also have the option to re-send a new code after 3 failed attempts.

Unfortunately, if you do not have a registered mobile phone number with FCM Bank you are unable to access your internet banking. In this case, should you wish to access your account information or withdraw funds, you can call us on +356 2248 8000 and we will be more than happy to assist.

Unfortunately, we do not offer support outside normal office hours.  May we kindly ask you to contact us from Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 5pm.

Suspicious Transactions

We monitor transactions on a regular basis and if any suspicious activity is detected we will contact you immediately. However, if you believe that you have identified a suspicious transaction on your account, please call us immediately on +356 2248 8000.

The Bank takes any reports from customers of a suspicious transaction very seriously and will immediately start an investigation upon receipt of the report. The Bank will update you with the outcome in a timely manner by phone.

Yes, you can open an account even if you are not a Maltese resident. Please contact us on (+356)21 388 388 for further information.

Yes, to open an account a customer must be aged sixteen or over.

The account will be opened immediately upon receipt of all respective documentation and clearing of funds.

Interest calculation begins once the cheque deposit has been cleared or the payment has been posted onto your account. Typically, cheque clearing takes approximately 3 working days. It is important to note that providing all required documentation to the Bank promptly is crucial to facilitate this process and enable you to start earning interest at the earliest possible time.
